Institutional Cooking - Certificate

Saskatchewan Polytechnic and Saskatchewan Apprenticeship & Trades Certification Commission (SATCC) credential eligible  FQFA

This program is designed to prepare you to work in large-scale food preparation. From soups to sauces (and everything in between), you’ll learn how to produce nutritious, delicious foods in quantity. It’s a high demand career. Graduates of this program can gain employment in restaurants, hotels, catering facilities, remote mining camps, hospitals, schools and more.

Institutional Cooking is a 20-week applied certificate program offered at the Buffalo Narrows Campus Approximately 70% of your learning is hands-on training in a commercial kitchen.

Students acquire skills in the following areas:

  • Baking
  • Stocks, soups and sauces
  • Breakfast and dairy
  • Basic cooking principles
  • Safety and sanitation
  • Tools and equipment

Upon Graduation, you may be eligible for credit towards apprenticeship training. To learn more, contact the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission (SATCC).
