The Instructor is responsible for delivering all aspects of the Plumbing and Pipefitting program. Courses may include, but are not limited to: Blueprint Reading; Plumbing/Pipefitting Mathematics; Gas fitting; Safety, Knots, and Rigging; Trade Science; Hydronic Heating Systems; Introduction to Steam Boilers; and Basic Tools and Materials. Additional responsibilities will include: setting up and monitoring work placements, maintaining tools and supplies; monitoring and providing feedback on student progress; submitting required paperwork to Northlands College and its affiliated agencies; and other duties as assigned.

The minimal qualifications for this position are: a Red Seal Plumbing Ticket and a Domestic Gas Certificate, a minimum of two years of experience as a plumber; a valid driver’s license and strong communication and interpersonal skills. A relevant combination of education and experience may be considered.

Instructors teach courses in the areas of adult basic education, technical and trades, mining, and university programs.  We are leading employer in northern Saskatchewan for both instructional and administrative employees.  We have campuses in various communities across northern Saskatchewan and have built strong partnerships with agencies and institutions to provide well-rounded courses and programs.
 
Northlands College will be offering a Bachelor of Education program beginning in the fall of 2017.  We are currently recruiting for 5 instructors who will work as a team dedicated to the success of students who are pursuing their Bachelor degree.  Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 
·       Teach courses in assigned program area,
·       Develop syllabi that clearly outline the course requirements, rationale, goals and objectives.
·       Select textbooks and other resources for the class.
·       Prepare class sessions and assignments to help students grasp course content and how it integrates with overall student learning outcomes for the course.
·       Create a learning environment that encourages student involvement and participation.
·       Document students’ attendance, participation, and academic progress by giving and grading assignments, projects, quizzes and/or examinations that lead to a final grade.
·       Be accessible to students outside the classroom, providing ample periods of time for counselling and mentoring students in matters related to academic success and life goals.
·       Visit, evaluate, and provide feedback to students in the field.  Travel to remote communities, including travel on gravel roads and overnight stays, will be required.
·       Stay informed about changes and innovations in their field.
The minimal requirements for these positions are a Bachelor of Education Degree and a Master’s of Education Degree in one of the following: Curriculum, Educational Administration, Education Foundations or Educational Psychology.  The ideal candidate will also have a minimum of five years of experience teaching, preferably in northern Saskatchewan.  A thorough understanding of northern Saskatchewan Indigenous culture is a definite asset. A relevant combination of education and experience may be considered.  Successful candidates must meet the requirements of the accrediting university.

Manager of University Programming

Reporting to the Director of Academic Programming, the Manager of University Programming is responsible for the development, implementation and management of a significant portion of the university programming traditionally offered by the College. As a member of the management team, the Manager of University Programming participates directly in the decision making process that establishes overall college operation and performance levels. The Manager of University Programming is also responsible for the recruitment, hiring, professional development, supervision and evaluation of staff within their area of responsibility.

The minimal qualifications for this position are a relevant Bachelor’s Degree; however, candidates with a relevant Master’s Degree may be given preference. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of university programming, usually obtained through a Master’s degree. A thorough understanding of current and emerging adult education practices, principles, and methodology is essential.

The successful candidate will have effective verbal and written communication skills, strong leadership skills, a high degree of organizational skills, a high degree of interpersonal skills, effective supervisory skills, effective negotiation skills, the ability to build and maintain staff and student morale, as well as effective decision making and problem solving skills.

Salary Range: $ 84,131-$ 97,482 per year depending on education and experience.
