Recreation & Community Development - Diploma - Year 1 of 2

Northlands College will deliver the 1st year of this diploma program at La Ronge Campus. You will possibly have to do part or all of year 2 in Saskatoon. Year 1 in La Ronge is 31 weeks and year 2 in Saskatoon will be 34 weeks.

Leadership, volunteerism, social awareness—these are characteristics shared by people working in recreation and community development. It is a growth industry, and Northlands College is offering the new Recreation and Community Development program that will help turn your passion into a dynamic career.

Be a recreation director, manager of sport, recreation and culture, community development officer, facility manager or special events manager. Your skills are in demand in northern, rural and urban communities.

Recreation and Community Development (formerly Recreation and Tourism Management) is a two-year diploma Saskatchewan Polytechnic program. Northlands College is offering year 1 of the diploma program. The comprehensive curriculum is relevant to real world trends, thanks to strong support from the industry.

As a student of this program you will obtain experience and learn:

You’ll gain both industry-specific knowledge and core management skills.

Entrance requirements: Grade 12 with a minimum of 60% in each of the following subjects: English Language Arts A30, English Language Arts B30, and Workplace and Apprenticeship Math 30 or Foundations of Math 30 or a passing grade in Pre-Calculus 30.
