The Office Administration Instructor is responsible for providing instruction in all aspects of the Office Administration program. Courses include, but are not limited to: Accounting, Business Communications, Interpersonal Communications, Keyboarding, Word Processing, Office Procedures, Spreadsheet Applications, Computer Suite Applications, and Personal Management. Additional responsibilities include: classroom management, taking attendance and submitting it to on a regular basis, monitoring student progress and submitting reports on a regular basis, setting up and monitoring work placements and other duties as assigned.

The minimal qualifications for this position are: a Bachelor of Education Degree, with an Office Education Certificate; minimum of two years of experience in an office environment and strong communication and interpersonal skills. A relevant combination of education and experience may be considered.

The Tri-Trades Instructor will be responsible for Tri-trades curriculum to adult students registered in the course. Courses of instruction may include, but are not limited to: Brake Systems; Industrial Communications; Bearings, Seals, Clutches and Transmissions; Differentials and Final Drives; Tracks and Undercarriage; Fundamentals of Electrical Systems; Engines; Equipment Operation and Maintenance; and Shop Tools, Procedures and Safety.

The minimum qualifications/requirements for this position are; a Bachelor of Education Degree with a Saskatchewan Professional A teaching certificate and experience in one or more of the following trades; Heavy Equipment Mechanics; Auto Mechanics; or Truck & Transport Mechanical Repairs; and/or a Journeyperson, with a Red Seal, in one or more of the following trades; Heavy Equipment Mechanics; Auto Mechanics; or Truck & Transport Mechanical Repairs and 2 years recent relevant post Journey experience; strong communication and interpersonal skills. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Instructor must meet Saskatchewan Polytechnics' accreditation requirements.

Instructors teach courses in the areas of adult basic education, technical and trades, mining, and university programs. We are leading employer in northern Saskatchewan for both instructional and administrative employees. We have campuses in various communities across northern Saskatchewan and have built strong partnerships with agencies and institutions to provide well-rounded courses and programs.

Northlands College will be offering a Bachelor of Education program beginning in the fall of 2017. W e are currently recruiting for an instructor who will work as a team dedicated to the success of students who are pursuing their Bachelor degree. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  •   Teach courses in assigned program area,

  •   Develop syllabi that clearly outline the course requirements, rationale, goals and objectives.

  •   Select textbooks and other resources for the class.

  •   Prepare class sessions and assignments to help students grasp course content and how it integrates with

    overall student learning outcomes for the course.

  •   Create a learning environment that encourages student involvement and participation.

  •   Document students’ attendance, participation, and academic progress by giving and grading assignments,

    projects, quizzes and/or examinations that lead to a final grade.

  •   Be accessible to students outside the classroom, providing ample periods of time for counselling and

    mentoring students in matters related to academic success and life goals.

  •   Visit, evaluate, and provide feedback to students in the field. Travel to remote communities, including

    travel on gravel roads and overnight stays, will be required.

  •   Stay informed about changes and innovations in their field.

    The minimal requirements for this position is a Bachelor of Education Degree and a Master’s of Education Degree in one of the following: Curriculum, Educational Administration, Education Foundations or Educational Psychology. The ideal candidatewillalsohaveaminimumoffiveyearsofexperienceteaching,preferablyinnorthernSaskatchewan. Athorough understanding of northern Saskatchewan Indigenous culture is a definite asset. A relevant combination of education and experience may be considered. Successful candidates must meet the requirements of the accrediting university.
