Exploration & Mining Engineering Technician (Year 1 of 2)

Accreditation: Northern College; Haileybury School of Mines  FQFA

Saskatchewan remains the world’s largest potash producing jurisdiction and second largest producer of uranium. Exploration continues to be strong, with renewed interest in base and precious metals and diamonds. Long term career prospects are good, especially for highly skilled, technical workers.

Graduates may find employment as exploration or geological technicians, mine technicians, surveyors, assayers, metallurgical technicians or process or mill operators. With experience you can advance to be a planner, inspector, safety technician, project manager or supervisor.

Students will participate in three one-week field schools (one in Year 1; two in Year 2) which require overnight travel outside of the community. Drug testing may be required depending on the work placement agency.

Graduates of this program may be eligible to complete two more years of study with Athabasca University to earn a Bachelor of Science degree.
