Women in Trades (Phase 1 - Carpentry)

Accreditation: Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies  FQFA

This program is designed to prepare women for employment in the industrial trades. Through a combination of in-class and hands-on training, students will gain the entry level skills required for employment in carpentry.

Applicants must have good eyesight, hearing, manual dexterity, and physical agility. They must also be able to work at heights, work in confined spaces, and lift heavy materials. Possession of a valid class 5 driver’s licence is recommended.

Carpentry is Phase 1 of 2 for the Women in Trades program. The second phase is Plumbing and Electrical and is offered from January 6, 2020 to May 1, 2020. Applicants must apply for each phase separately.

Graduates of this program may be eligible for credit towards apprenticeship training and may find employment with construction companies, contractors, or maintenance departments.
